Grades K-2

A solid foundation of learning creates lifelong learners.  During the early primary years, Kindergarten through 2nd grade, Core Knowledge curriculum introduces a strong academic foundation and a sense of the larger world around them.  Offering a content-rich and intentionally sequenced curriculum empowers all students, regardless of their background, to thrive by having access to the knowledge that supports reading comprehension, academic achievement, and civic participation.

    History and Geography: World Geography, Spatial Sense, Overview of the Seven Continents, American Geography, Native American Peoples; Past and Present, Early Exploration and Settlement, Presidents; Past and Present, Symbols and Figures

    Mathematics: Patterns and Classification, Numbers and Number Sense, Money, Computation, Measurement, Geometry

    Science: Plants and Plant Growth, Animals and Their Needs, Human Body (Five Senses), Introduction to Magnetism, Seasons and Weather, Taking Care of the Earth, Science Biographies

    Religion: Word of Life curriculum, which follows Archdiocese of Denver standards

    Art: Elements of Art: Color and Line, Types of Art: Sculpture and Architecture

    Music: Elements of Music, Instruments of Music

    Physical Education: Activities and instruction are designed to complement what is being taught across other subject areas.
